COLONEL G G A PRIYANTHA RSP

Colonel G G A Priyantha RSP was appointed as Colonel Welfare of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force effective from 22 February 2015.

Enlisted to the Army on 26 January 1987 and commissioned to the Sri Lanka Artillery Regiment of the 5th Sri Lanka Artillery (SLA) as 2 Lieutenant on 27 May 1987, he was subsequently promoted to the rank of Captain (1995), Major (1999), Lieutenant Colonel (2007) and Colonel (2015).

Colonel G G A Priyantha RSP who counts over 29 years of distinguished service in the Army has served in a number of appointments at the Sri Lanka Army as the Troop Commander, Battery Commander, 2nd In Command 12 SLA, Acting Commandant Muhamale Entry Exit Point at SF HQ (Jaffna), Commanding Officer 12 SLA, Director Pay and Director Welfare at Civil Defence Force and Civil Affairs Officer at SF HQ (Jaffna).

He has actively contributed in Counter Insurgency Operations against the LTTE and was awarded the gallantry medal Rana Sura Padakkama (RSP).

To his credit, he has attended a number of local courses of professional value, including the Assault Pioneer Course, Basic Marksmanship Course, Junior Combat Leadership Course, Company Commander Course, 2nd In Command Course, International Humanitarian Law/ Human Rights Instructor Course and Advanced Civil Affairs Officers Course.

Colonel G G A Priyantha RSP is an old boy of the prestigious St, Joshop’s College, Bandarawela and Married to a teacher Samanthi.
