Heralding the dawn of the New Year 2018, the Headquarters of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force initiated the work of the first working day on 02 January 2018 having accomplished the customary military formalities presided by Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.
Having unfurled the National Flag by the Commandant Major General A P de Z Wickramaratne and the Flag of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force by the Deputy Commandant Brigadier L F Kasthuriarachchi, the National Anthem and the Army Song were recited as the flags were on the full swing. Just after two minutes silence being observed in memory of the Fallen War Heroes, everybody in attendance pledged their allegiance to the State by reading the Government Servants’ Oath before the Commandant. Afterwards, the troops listened to the New Year Message issued by Commander of the Army Lieutenant General N U M M W Senanayake, which extended best wishes for a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Subsequently, all ranks of the Headquarters attended a tea party followed by the address of the Commandant which highlighted the value of working with commitment to endow the future generation with a better tomorrow.
