Brigadier L F Kasturiarachchi who is a well-known Senior Officer from the Artillery Regiment of the Sri Lanka Army assumed duties today as the Deputy Commandant of Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force amidst military formalities accomplished at the Volunteer Force Headquarters premises at Kosgama.
The day’s proceedings in connection with the assumption of duties as the Deputy Commandant began with reviewing of the Guard Turnout accorded in his honour by the troops of the Artillery Regiment. Afterwards, Brigadier L F Kasturiarachchi, amidst invoking of the blessings and chanting of Seth Pirith by the maha sanga, placed his signature on an official document, symbolizing the formal acceptance of his new appointment at the auspicious time.
Subsequently, the Senior Officer was accorded to a tea attended by the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force and all invitee Officers along with the serving members of the Headquarters where he had interactions with the participants. Afterwards, the Senior Officer planted a sapling of aquilaria (wallapatta) to signify his inauguration of the office.
The Deputy Commandant at his inaugural troops address underscored that he looks forward to serve the Volunteer Force while elevating its standards. He also remembered, with honour the service of his predecessors, the past Commandants, fallen War Heroes and those wounded in action while appreciating their contribution along with the present day members.
Senior Officers including the Officers and Other Ranks attended the occasion to congratulate on his new appointment.
