The Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force abiding to the military traditions, organized a farewell dinner at Officers’ Mess of Regimental Headquarters Sri Lanka Light Infantry on 13 October 2017 for outgoing Deputy Commandant Brigadier WHD Mahanada and his Lady culminating the formalities connected to his relinquishment of the Office as the Deputy Commandant.
The arrival of the Chief Guest and the Lady at the venue was heralded by fanfare. They were warmly welcomed by Major General M H S B Perera, the Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.
The evening was coloured by the attendance of senior Officers and the Staff of the Volunteer Force including Principal Staff Officer, Centre Commandants of Sri Lanka National Guard and Sri Lanka Army Pioneer Corps. The Senior Officer shared a cheerful moment with the gathering while recollecting the good olden days amidst the tune of the Band. Inspector of Training of the Volunteer Force recollected the distinguished services rendered by Brigadier WHD Mahanada.
Major General Boniface Perera with a gesture of profound appreciation delivered a motivational speech followed by a felicitous moment of presenting memorable souvenirs to Mrs Priyanthi Mahanada and Brigadier Mahanada to signify his service to the Volunteer Force. In keeping with the traditions, Major General Boniface Perera accomplished this task. Afterwards, Brigadier Mahanada in his final remarks expressed his profound sense of gratitude to all personnel whose support had been highly instrumental in discharging his duties in his tenure.
Eventually, Brigadier WHD Mahanada placed his signature on the Visitors’ Book leaving an indelible chapter as Deputy Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.
