MAJOR GENERAL SWL DAULAGALA RSP USP NDU BIDS FAREWELL TO VOLUNTEER FORCE

Major General SWL Daulagala RSP USP ndu with an illustrious military career spanning 34 years officially relinquished the office of the 32nd Commandant on 20 February 2015 completing a milestone in his military career at Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force.

A series of formalities observed at Headquarters, Kosgama in connection with the relinquishment of the appointment commenced with the reviewing of the Guard Turn Out accorded to the outgoing Commandant on arrival to the venue. He was received by Major General W D L P Wickramasinghe RSP KSV the Deputy Commandant and Brigadier K Prematillake the Principal Staff Officer. On the request of the Parade Commander, the Chief Guest inspected the Guard of Honour accorded to him by troops of the Gajaba Regiment in keeping with military traditions. The Parade was commanded by Captain DMAS Dissanayake and contained the President’s Colours Squad commanded by Captain KCM Karunarathne. Lieutenant HYC Silva acted as the Second in Command of the Parade.

A large gathering of Officers and soldiers who attended the occasion included Centre Commandant of Sri Lanka National Guard, Colonel Coordinating Officers and Liaison Officers.

Addressing the troops of the Volunteer Force, Major General Daulagala spelt out that his tenure would be reminiscent as one of the best chapters in his military career and thanked the Deputy Commandant and the Staff for all generous support extended during the office spanning approximately nine months as Commander of the Volunteer Force.

After posing for photographs with the Staff of the SLAVF, the outgoing Commandant was accorded to a tea after which he was honoured with a memento in appreciation of his illustrious service to the Volunteer Force followed by the address to the Officers.

The days proceedings reached the culmination with the departure of Major General Lalith Daulagala from the Office of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force amidst good-bye cheers of Officers and Other Ranks who street lined on both sides of the road leading to the Main Gate.

Major General H C P Goonetilleke RSP USP ndc psc is due to take over the Office as the 33rd Commandant of the Sri Lanka Army Volunteer Force on 25 February 2015.
